How Does Your Garden Grow

A couple of weeks ago I took some photographs in the garden. Surprised to see new flowers forming on the sunflowers. September was another pretty fabulous month weather here.

I felt such huge temptation to cut the sunflowers to bring into the house but decided to leave them well alone for the birds to have access to the seeds later on in the year. The trees are heavy with apples now and there is veg to harvest too.

Apples & Shallots

Nicotiana grown from seed this year was still flowering strongly with a sweet scent and fennel that has been growing for years in a pot is also still in bloom.

Nicotiana & FennelVery soon I will be cutting the sunflower heads and leaving them on the ground for the birds to enjoy and making way for some exciting changes in the beds…watch this space!

  1. I do love looking at sunflowers – something so cheerful about them isn’t there.

Love your sunflower photos. I’m the same with roses – I try to resist the temptation to cut them and bring them into the house, decided it’s nice to look at them coming up the garden path and they should stay outside. Looking forward to finding out what you are planning for the beds :)

Glorious sunflower photos – it’s very grey and wet here this morning and they have brought a little bit of sunshine into my room.

Shallots and apples together makes me hanker for chuntney!
