I wonder how many of you that are on facebook had the jar idea pop in your news feed in the run up to Christmas? A very simple idea that whenever anything good happens no matter how small, you write it down and pop it in the jar. Then at the end of the year you can look back through all the good stuff that has happened. I really love this idea. So often, in recent years for me and a few of my friends we have got to the end of the year and said so glad that year is over and this year will be better. It hasn’t always worked out like that at all but last year was the ‘easiest’ we have had in probably the last 6 or 7.

I ran the idea of the jar by Him Outdoors. His response was ‘Can’t we do two? One positive, one negative and see which one wins?’ tongue firmly in cheek.
Nope. Just doing the one. Focusing on the good as much as possible which is something I have done as far as I ever could since J has arrived. I’m not saying that there aren’t those inevitable down days, when everything just feels completely unfair and I won’t deny that I worry about J’s future but I tend to pull myself up from it quite quickly these days because I really have to.
So what do you think? Are you doing one?

I think I might have to now! I’d never heard of this, and I’m such a doom-master at times
LOVE this idea!
A really lovely idea. Nice to end the year with a positive ‘year in review’. As a conscious focus would it maybe inadvertently lead to an increase in positive experiences? Who knows.
Betsy, my 16 year old, is doing one in our now empty quality street jar, lovely idea!
I’d heard about this but then forgotten again. You’ve now made me want to dig the idea out again *runs to find jar* – I have quite a few things to be grateful for despite being jobless. Thank you for the much needed reminder and by the way I hopped here from G+

We used to do something similar at youth group when we were teens, we used to all have a sheet of paper taped to our back and everyone would go around and write what we admired about the person on their backs, its very uplifting x
